The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
Royal Shakespeare Company
An absolutely wonderful project illustrating a toolkit to inspire change with a visual trail to accompany the new musical ‘The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind’ during it’s run at The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
The project involved working with the YAB (Youth Advisory Board) to discover how they would encourage and make change in their local communities. This was then translated into a toolkit to be distributed via the illustrated stands in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford to help guide those inspired by William’s story.
“A bold and uplifting new musical telling the true story of a boy who hopes to defy expectations to produce the gift of power and give hope for tomorrow.”
We also worked alongside local schools and youth clubs to design their own Chitenje’s, showcasing how they view their communities and allowing them to learn about Malawian culture. The workshops were hosted by George Harrison (TBWHTW Dramaturg) and Alice Tomlinson (RSC Young Creators Developer). Live visual notes and Chitenje final designs were made by me.
The final designs were printed onto cloth and shown around The Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
